The Puna Tourist Circuit Project
Municipalities in the province of Loa are driving the Puna Tourist Circuit, whose aim is to set up a corridor through the various locations that make it up, and which also considers routes in Argentina and Bolivia .
The project, headed by the Municipality of Ollagüe , has already made significant progress, since, a few weeks ago, several meetings were held with Argentinean and Bolivian authorities.
The circuit considers the route from Ollagüe, passing through Uyuni, Tupiza, Villazón (Bolivian zones) and then entering Argentina through the Quiaca sector. From there, it continues on through Abrapampa, the Humahuaca ravine (considered a heritage of humanity), then to Jujuy and leaving via Susques to enter the Chilean side in San Pedro de Atacama; it then continues on to Calama and returns again to Ollagüe.
At this moment, the authorities in Jujuy , Argentina , are being asked for their support for this tourist corridor so that a bill benefiting the municipalities in this sector may be approved.
National authorities are also being requested to pave the route from Calama to Ollagüe to expedite passage of tourists along this circuit.
A new meeting will be summoned with representatives of the three countries involved to be held in January 2005, and the host town for this event could possibly be Quiaca in Argentina .
